What I forgot to add to the above information is that while I was
standing talking to the two residents, two gents came along from the
nearby Pick n Pay.  They said that an employee who had been on her way
to work earlier had seen the attack take place and that she would be
able to give a description of the victim's attacker.

She had been talking at work about the incident and the two chaps who
had heard what she had to say decided to go to the scene of the crime
and report this.  The woman who saw the attacker apparently said she
was scared because he (the perpetrator) had seen her witnessing what
had happened.  (I guess she is probably in need counselling too....)

The awful thing for me about this is that someone's husband /
brother / father / uncle won't be returning home anytime soon and the
SAPS have no means of securing the victim's identity.....
