I have just had a further conversation with the PSIRA inspector, Mr Eddie Booysens, who confirms yet again that OAR are not registered with PSIRA. This is an extract from their website - i.e. this information is publicly available.

(In fact, OAR were informed by letter as long ago as 20/1/2009 that they had to apply for re-registration.) PSIRA have at this time initiated at Code of Conduct Prosecution, and are investigating a criminal prosecution. (Here the decision on whether or not to prosecute will rest with SAPS.) This leaves OAR clients in an unenviable position. Should they want further advice, they should phone Mr Booysens at 083 629 7621 or email him at [email protected]. Mr Booysens advises them to visit the PSIRA website (http://www.psira.co.za) and at look at the relevant legislation, which is the Private Security Industry Regulatory Act 56 of 2001. They should look in particular at sections 20 and section 38 (3) (G) . They should inform themselves re. their obligation in terms of the act.
