Looks like the flies are heading north then. I have friends in suburbs
further south who've been complaining about the fly infestation, but it
doesn't seem to have hit me in Fir Street yet.
Flies breed incredibly easily, controlling them is more about stopping
them from breeding than killing endless adults. They breed in "Warm
organic material such as animal and poultry manure, garbage, decaying
vegetables and fruits and in piles of moist leaves and lawn clippings."
so there's ample opportunity. Less dog pooh will help, so will less
piles of cut grass or leaves lying around. The warm weather helps them too.
