hahahaha -- after about 4 years, I was paying R446.31.  I got a
quotation from Vetus Schola for R250, and switched.  They have given
me excellent service so far, though admittedly they haven't had to
perform any heroics.  I prefer VS, because they do not require a
telephone connection to monitor the alarm (they get full zone
information etc. via their radio connection), and they respond (phone
call) within 20s or so of alarm activation.  I assume that with
dedicated cars in the area, their armed response will be reasonably
quick too, but that is untested.

I suspect that ADT simply push up subscriptions by 10 - 15% per year
(or more) regardless.  Every year, one simply receives the letter
saying "fees have gone up by x amount, blah blah blah".  When you look
again, you're paying double.
