HI Giaga and Melanie I manage the park keys for Barrington St on a voluntary basis. Pam and Tony at the Model Cafe kindly 'sell' them at cost - I get a whole batch cut. I don't make any profit on them and nor does the cafe, in fact I go out of my way to have them cut at the cheapest place in order to make it accessible for everyone. Currently the price is R12. As with the dog park, the key is available to anyone who wishes to have one.
A few years ago the Barrington St park was only locked at night. Parents of kids who used the park decided to change it to being locked at all times due to the fact that the free access was creating safety issues. The parks cannot be monitored. I am not aware of anyone who would like to use this park who has been denied access or who has not been able to get a key.
