This has been true until fairly recently. Now there is NX
(http://www.nomachine.com/ ). This is a commercial product. I have used
the NoMachine NX client in conjunction with the FreeNX server
(http://freenx.berlios.de/) and I can tell you that as a user and
administrator of a Citrix farm, NX is approaching the level of Citrix
and possibly exceeds the capabilities of Terminal Services / RDP. There
are issues, of course, but it is getting there.

I agree. However I think the apps are now there, whereas they weren't
when Kylix came out.

Maybe. Inroads are being made and have already been made, though.
