I've been very happy with both AOC and CMV LCD monitors. You can pick up a 17" screen of either brand for <$300 if you shop around.

I missed most of this thread - is anyone using the CMV monitors and if so, are they OK?

Yes, I'm using one of the much older 17" CMVs, the CT-722A, and it is perfect for coding and gaming. Very bright compared to my old CRT, I found that I had to turn the backlight brightness down at first while coding until I got used to it. I see very expensive CRTs now and I can't stand looking at them because they are so fuzzy compared to the CMV LCD. Practically infinite viewing angle and the response time (16ms) is good enough for games, the newer CMVs are getting better and better, I think. Get one that has DVI input.

Cheers,
Nicholas Sherlock
