I totally agree. The OGB needs to make a stand on this. Either we get answers from Oracle or the OGB needs to separate the OpenSolaris Community from Oracle and be truly autonomous. That means we get the development of OpenSolaris completely out in the open and let the community run it, not Oracle. While I would like to believe that Oracle is just unsure of how to handle the OpenSolaris community, they've had plenty of time to think these things over before the acquisition completed. It's not like Oracle wasn't already calling the shots beforehand inside Sun anyways.

Everyone is correct, as I stated, Oracle's not talking and I'm not expecting that to change because of anything we do. Lord knows I've tried as best I can and Peter Trimble has helped. We made no headway. However, Indiana is a CG. Distro is a CG. ON is a CG. All the groups responsable for the OpenSolaris distribution are CG's right here. The board oversee's CG's. Therefore, it seems only natural that the OGB has jurisdiction in this matter. The OGB may not be able to request details from Oracle (lets face it, the OGB Facilitator to Sun has never been useful) but the board can request details from its own CG's. The message I hear is that the OGB doesn't have control over its own CG's. Or, alternatively, that Sun CG's don't produce anything. Do we really believe that? Do we want to believe that? benr. _______________________________________________ ogb-discuss mailing list ogb-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ogb-discuss _______________________________________________ ogb-discuss mailing list ogb-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ogb-discuss
