Sorry folks, I said many of these things long ago, still under Sun´s times. Nobody listened. Nobody supported me (except for a good small crowd [special regards!]). But most others let me die.
It seems now is that ^action^ time of hyper-proactively flooding lists, once per year? Reminder to Dennis Clarke: Branching off is easy. Everybody has the right to do so, under the CDDL! But I find your mails a bit polemic. Do you recall the Polaris PowerPC-port ^community^ effort? Beyond was Cyril has contributed, 98% of the real porting work was achieved by Sun-Labs employees!! It is easy to proclaim a branch-off, or even 10 different branch-offs. But here comes my question: How are you going to replace the bright brilliant skilled and experienced Sun kernel engineers? As long as Oracle continues to pay the engineers, run the site and publish mosts webrefs in the open, too publicly talking about the possibility of wanting to branch-off could be interpreted by Oracle as welcome provocation to leave us all on our own! While keeping all the Sunacle-engineering´s fruits in the future BEHIND their firewall, rather than just throwing it over it. So what is better, what is worse? To ^only^ get all the stuff they are throwing over? Or to get nothing at all??? p.s. I see many parts that are not just being thrown over as it. To witness this, one can subscribe to more lists. One doesn´t believe it. There are also even some technical lists on this site .... -- %martin bochnig _______________________________________________ ogb-discuss mailing list ogb-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/ogb-discuss
