Comparing the current situation with the conflict escalation gauge from
"Friedrich Glasl" shows that we are still at level 3 in a scale from 1..9.

We (the community and Oracle) are still both winners, but we are close to the
first important break. A break that usually cannot be rewound. This is why I
believe that we need to be careful with out actions.

We however should however not ignore the current situation and thus be
prepared to fork in case this is needed. Once we do this, we most likely will
harm us and Oracle, so our goal should not be a fork but a much better
collaboration and collaboration means being open and giving information.

Agreed (see above).

OK, so let us try to find out whom to talk to....do you think about talking to
Dr. Hahn, David Comay, and David Miner (the people you mentioned in a previous
mail?

I am still in hope that the important people at Oracle will realize early
enough that they cause harm to the future of Oracle if they continue to ignore
us.

My impression is that Oracle currently only introduces changes that are the
obvious results from ideas of business economics. If you do this at a low
level, you may fine-adjust the revenues of a company. If you do a coarse adjust
at this level (as curently done by Oracle), this will usually harm the company.

Oracle needs to understand why people buy Sun products and adjust the Oracle
rules to match this. This is why I believe that Oracle needs us (the community)
in order to turn Sun into a successful business again.
