Again, we are talking about the lack of communication. This a deja-vu from
several mail threads.

We have two situations here:

a) We need to hear a lot more about what's happening with the new releases
of OpenSolaris, and the future of this OS in general. From OGB, or from
Oracle.

b) Do ee expect from Oracle to continue supporting the OpenSolaris project
in some way, and/or maybe the same way Sun did in the past?

Then:

a) I'm reading about "the silence of Oracle" now for more than a month. We
only received two or three emails, with little or nothing about concrete
plans for OS.
I sent several mails starting the day the new people was introduced. Again,
the results were the same.
Then, as far as I'm concerned, there is only one place to look for answers,
or to send the concerns we want to be conducted to Oracle people, and this
place is OGB.
I agree with BenR about the fact that Indiana is a CG, ON too, etc., and
that OGB is where we can find answers coming from those CG's.

b) Don't know how much Oracle knows about what we (Sun and non-Sun people)
did to keep OS alive.
It's not a question of code writing only. It's a question of a lot of people
evangelizing, creating communities, giving tech talks, writing articles, and
lots of other stuff.
We are the community.
If we consider creating a fork is the way to keep OS alive, I will be the
first to contribute in the same way I did (and do...we'll have our
latinamerican free software installation festival in two weeks, and I'm
having meetings in between days to coordinate every detail) with Solaris
Express, and OpenSolaris.
IMHO, if this is the decision *THE COMMUNITY* takes about OS, there is a lot
of work to do. If anybody has any concern about how much, people who
develops Belenix, Nexenta, Schillix, and/or Milax could be the point to
place questions.
And, IMHO too, the official message from Oracle is not to let OS die. But we
must be prepared to take the right decision, at the right time.

Best regards,

HeCSa.
