Alex, you don't need to use the D20STL. You can just use the OGL, and put in as many rules as you want. WotC "opened" the rules document... and has a semi-open license for using their fancy trademark. It's like Microsfot letting anyone take and use the source code of windows... but they can't call it Windows or say it's windows compatible or use their trademarks unless they agree to a seperate license.
