Thank goodness that your opinion does not seem to be the prevailing one, nor
do I believe it ever will be.

You're talking about people who were willing to >break the law< in the first
place, making unauthorized derivative works.  Why in the hell do you think
they'll have a problem using a license that at least sets out formal terms
for the creation of those works?  If anything, I suspect there's a bunch of
people who for years have been sitting on creative stuff, but who wouldn't
distribute it >just in case< someone ever came calling with a lawsuit.
Especially after TSR's big net crackdown, when in some cases, they did just
that.

PS:  Ya wanna go over to Slashdot and suggest that downstream liability
issues from improperly conveyed copyrights are causing problems for
non-commercial Open Source software development too?
