Hi,
>From what I can gather from previous questions I've asked and had
answered (thanks to those who have :)
Anything within the SRD can be used so long as I abide by the OGL.
So If I use the spells, feats, classes, alignments and all in my MUD,
once of course the appropriate parts of the SRD are official and not
draft. I could include the licence on my MUD and explain which
parts of the mud are open and which I will keep as PI and cannot
be reused by others.
ok so far?
Now I may decide to generate characters in a similar fashion to the
PHB which thus prohibits me from using the D20 logo, which is
fine. So as long as I do not simply copy the explinations but instead
do the character creation process in my own words, some of
which will simply be automated.
Am I still ok to do so? Have I violated the OGL or any other laws
here??
Based on all this can the items within the SRD simply be copied without
any sort of rewording since they are OGC??
If all the above is ok, that means I can create my mud based on
the SRD and various rules taken from the PHB so long as those items
that are not in the SRD are sufficiently reworked into my own words?
I presume that because I'm using OGC I cannot mention that the MUD
uses the D&D rules due to trademark?
Am I on safe ground here, or very unsafe ground?
My final question regards my usage of otherpeoples copyrighted material
that is not OGC. If I have a licence to use their material for any non-profit
purpose can I include that in my MUD which happens to include the OGC
from the SRD? Would I have to state that that material is PI and NOT OGC,
but can be obtained and used via a seperate licence from its author?
Or will I be prevented from using any material other than OGC and my
own material be it PI or OGC due to the OGL applying to the entire
product eg my MUD.
Sorry for the length of these questions, but these are the last few things
I'm unsure of, and I do not want to infringe anyone elses rights, or spend
time developing something that I cannot actually allow people to play
due to infrigning someone elses rights.
Any help appreciated.
