No, they haven't. There was one suit against Mayfair, which didn't deal with character design at all -- it involved trademarks and licensing issues. Games such as Runequest and Palladium have systems very similair to D&D. For that matter, so does Tunnels&Trolls and a host of other games. TSR/WOTC has never sued any of them. > So Wizard's has legal precedent on their side. > No, they don't. They also have shown no interest in filing such suits -- Dancey (who admittedly is NOT the voice of WOTC legal) has stated in public that you CAN tack chargen onto the SRD and make it a game -- you just can't say "Compatible with D&D" or "For use with D20" or any other use of trademark. I believe that the upcoming "Series Archer" game from AEG is going to use the D20 system (from the SRD), but NOT the D20 trademark license, and WILL include chargen. > This just came up on a couple of other lists I am on, including a game system design >one. There's a lot of very bad law and very bad history on a lot of lists. _______________________________________________ Ogf-l mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/ogf-l
