Dear OL'ers,

Some more clarifications adding up to what Tom said:
- Software: I suggest taking a look to the combination of Mediawiki +
Extension:Wikibase [1], which is the one used in the Wikidata project [2].
Said extension allows to use a wiki as a structured data repository, which,
I think, it should be one of the main aims here. Wikidata is going to
include book records, but the scope is not as focused in books as OL, so it
makes sense to have a separate project and make as many modifications as
needed.
- Hosting: I would suggest to have an independent hosting during the
development/transition phase. The WMF has adopted projects in the past and
right now there is another adoption process [3] going on for Omegawiki. The
prerequisites are to use mediawiki, to have aligned goals, and to have
support from the community. By being independently hosted several options
can be explored without committing upfront.
- Resources: is it realistically feasible ? How much effort could it take?

Cheers,
David
