>Told them I wanted a street car to run mid 13's.

That's easy enough to do. I had my '72 Cutlass running 13.80's just by swapping out the cam, making it a 4v w. Performer RPM intake and changing the rear gears to 3.73's. Had stock x-mans with 2 1/4" duals. Mid 13's were only headers and some tweaking away...too bad I blew it up before that.

>Apparently, by driving the car at 80mph on the highway at 4000 rpms.

Yep, that's how I spun the bearing in my '72 the first time. 2 hr trip to Scranton tacking about 3500 rpm the whole way.

>they would put oil restricters on the bottom

I'm not a fan of oil restrictors. I feel it's better to open up the oil return passages in the head (which I hadn't done when I spun the bearing).

>They said 600 HP would not be a problem

Someone is really optimistic. You won't get there for $4000 ($7k less $3k od unit) on a 350.
Might get closer if you were working a 455. Which leads me to......why keep the 350 and not go big block?
