Terry you seem to want it both ways.
You say what the Boy Scouts is doing, i.e. their discrimination of gays, is legal. Of
course you are right on that count. (Although i personally find their finding that the
boy scouts are a "private" organization ~ especially in light of opposite holdings
regarding the Jaycees, for example, laughable.) On the other hand, however, you
apparently don't want to grant the United Way their right to chose who they will and
will not support.
In other words, why is it grand that the Boy Scouts stand on principle but the United
Way is vilified for doing the same thing?
Equating the United Way's decision to stand on principle to bombing of abortion
providers is interesting. If there were any comparison (and i don't think there is) it
would seem to be a comparison of the actions of the bombers with that of those who
think it is just fine to discriminate against people based on something as irrelevant
as
sexual orientation.
Finally, Terry i would be interested to know on what grounds you base your claim
that what the United Way has decided to do is illegal, and why it would not stand a
court test?
