I agree with Ed. My son has decided to remain involved with the BSA despite
its policy on gay leaders and its refusal to give out the religion badge to
Unitarians--which we are. My son has benefitted greatly from his experience
with the scouts. But, if we thought that his troop leaders espoused
bigotry, we might have different feelings. This is a teaching moment. We
encourage our son to try to affect change from within. Of course, we are
also now donating the money we once sent to the BSA to the United Way.
