So, I don't see this as a technically related issue -- you can add a separate box connected to Ethernet to transmit the signal to be recorded to your computer. Or, you could just run the HDMI cable to the computer but you need somewhere to plug it in. It is possible that HDMI to Ethernet bridges exist.

Next problem; DRM It is quite possible that the output from the tuner or etc. will be encrypted and you won't be able to record it anyway. :-(
