Most consumer sources of HD video are already compressed. OTA, cable, sat, Blu-Ray, HD-DVD. I'm not sure what HD camcorders generate. SD DV is compressed in colorspace (4:1:1) but not in timespace. With the result that DV files are larger than mpeg2 files. > So, if there are new TVs with HDMI video output, this might be an issue. If we define a TV as a tuner with display and speaker(s), it would be less expensive to buy a standalone tuner for recording than to buy something that can compress HD in real time. I suppose if someone wanted to record their kid playing a videogame they'd need a compressor. Or if you find a HD camera that doesn't compress. _______________________________________________ Open-graphics mailing list [email protected] http://lists.duskglow.com/mailman/listinfo/open-graphics List service provided by Duskglow Consulting, LLC (www.duskglow.com)
