Root is the only user that can connect through Navicat. Its better to 
have a dedicated user other than root accessing the database? I've 
created two other users in Naviat: drgw5771 and sql ... but their not 
registered in the MySQL Server yet.

tcsh: mysql: Command not found.

Did I mistype the command?
