No, I run all the tests on one notebook.

I use Netscape 4.78 on a SuSE 7.3 and I have no problems with the
default extensions.

What shows "ls -lisa" in OpenCA/chain/?

Please try "make clean; make" in OpenCA/chain (this is what rebuildChain
does) and report the results.
