Alain: I don't need CVS so I guess that means that I
don't need to be an admin either.

Alain: Mid-semester crunch, eh!

Alain: http://www.sourceforge.net/

Alain: Sounds like a really sweet offer to me.

Alain: In my view, a Web site should fill that role.
Forms and their corresponding CGIs are relatively easy
to do. In my dynamic web system, all you had to do was
declare whatever form-element(s) you wanted in any of
our pages, without needing to attend to the form tag,
or the CGI, or the database/stack, or anything else.

Alain: Databases are a very strategic element of any
sophisticated system/collaboration. Structured infos
are always easier to handle than un-structured data.
Anything worth collecting is worth databasing.
Commands, functions, operators, properties,
reserved-words ... msgs, guidelines, votes,
frequently-asked-questions, etc.

Alain: The debate rages on! Are CGI programs that
don't do HTTP headers by definition 'broken'? Despite
the fact that they have been in use for several years
already without any complaints from my thousands of
'captive' clients?
> Adrian: I had read in other message

Alain: I was responding sarcastically to Anthony's
insistance that my FC.cgi program is BROKEN because it
doesn't output any HTTP headers. A moot point in any
case, as I pointed out then, because my fc CGI was
already on its way out, e.g. to be replaced with a
static web site in 100% pure HTML.

Alain: Well at least I got the ball rolling ;-)

Alain: How about a mySQL database ?

Alain: It's not that important but I was wondering if
anyone was aware of the fact that I was proposing this
move to sourceForge weeks ago ... in 3 installments.
It was put on the back-burner because we didn't want
to rush into anything. What a difference a few weeks
makes.
Alain: But what the hey. I have no problems whatsoever
with any of this. The move to SourceForge and to
non-Mac will undoubtedly be good ones. The sooner the
better, too. I am not dropping anything but I have
some renewed goals in mind for my G3, designs that are
increasingly tangential to what I am doing with FreeCard.
