Matt, thanks for your answer but I think I am missing
something in my data set up. Here is what I have done:

My data set is similar to the one described on the
Example 2, pg. 26, of the QuickStart Guide. So, following
that example I creted a "data.general" file, which
I can check using the sequence in the Visual Program
Editor:

   Import -> AutoColor -> Image
After "execute once" a graph is drawn.

However, when I try the sequence:

   Import -> ShowConnections -> Color -> Image

After "execute once" the program stop with an:

ERROR: ShowConnections: Missing data: missing "connections"
       or ("face", "look", "edge") component.

  What I am missing?

Sergio

To show the grid you can do the following

import->showconnections->color->image
and you will have your mesh, It took me a bit to figure that out as well
when I first started using dx
