I have the USB stick Linuxawy is talking about as well, works great on
linux, installs a virtual lan interface like the one android uses to tether
data connection to computers. needs no pre-installed drivers or programs.
It does need an initial install  (which pretty express) on older versions
of ubuntu though, but works instantly right after.
