It should be added that Fileman data dictionaries have a memo
(word-processing) field asociated with each file (table) and field called
description. This field is required by convention and typically provides
detailed documentation for the file or field. There is a second field in
the data dictionary called the technical description (which is not
required) which is used to provide implementation specific information. As
an example, the description would typicaly be used to document the meaning
of th possible vlues in the field and its *logical* relationship to other
fields. On the other hand, the technical desciption would discuss how any
integrity constraints are actually implemented. This field is intended
primarily for developers or database designers (these are often the same
people) who need to modify the file definition or implement new code
modules using the data.
