*However, putting the program on a server machine for the public to talk to is hardly "private" use, so it would be legitimate to require release of the source code in that special case* => this is definitely not just a showcase of an application.
however, this does not really met the situation. persony not only *publish* something on their website. They basically sell their product for resellers. So they really sell the hole server not only the *service* on their demo server. You can download and install on your own or for example or join their Partner program ... http://www.persony.com/partners_program.php *Reseller Partners* so this is not about a *Conferencing Webside* where they run a single / multiple instances of the application they basically sell the hole software. sebastian 2009/1/8 Roberto Torresani <[email protected]> > http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#UnreleasedMods > > > > 2009/1/8 Sebastian Wagner <[email protected]> > >> yes I am quite sure about that part of the LPGL. >> As soon as you modify the Sources of OpenMeetings you have to publish and >> license the modifications either under LGPL or GPL. >> >> But if you use OpenMeetings by using for example the Web-Service Gateway >> => so you do not modify OpenMeetings => you can redistribute it as part of >> your application without changing your License (so you can also >> re-distribute it under a propriatry license ... but only if you use it *as a >> library*. >> >> Modifing the sources and re-publish it under non (L)GPL terms is not >> LGPL-conform. >> >> In case of GPL you are right => GPL code can only by re-distributed as GPL >> In case of LGPL => you can choose if you would like to re-distribute as >> LPGL or GPL. >> >> 2009/1/8 Roberto Torresani <[email protected]> >> >> Hi Sebastian! >>> Are you sure about this? >>> >>> I know that if you use a code with GPL license (or LGPL) you could do all >>> you want, but you can't give to third part for example compile code: you >>> must give them the source.
