It's been months but IIRC it was that jimtcl would not build due to the
options being passed down from above which again IIRC its makefile(s)
didn't recognise - instead of ignoring them it refused to build.

I remember I originally gave up and went off to try some other JTAG
tools but hacked the makefile(s) etc after I found this looked the most
attractive tool - apart from it not building!

This is in danger of making things sound terrible but that would be a
very unfair conclusion.  It's just that "it didn't work painlessly for
me".
