The NewAction stuff hasn't yet made it to the front stage, so you
haven't missed a lot.

No, there are not. So in principle your updated version is probably not
too far away from the current RenderAction (minus a whole bunch of new
extensions, but the basics should be the same). Could you send that to
me and Moritz (and Christoph might be interested, too)?
