Wrong: I take comptibility seriously and this is why I reject attempts to
introduce imcompatibility.

Adding "-/" to Sun tar _did_ introduce incompatibility, this is why it has been 
rejected.

Implementing _features_ is a completely different playground..... 

Implementing a feature for "-/" that does not mean:

        -/              don't strip leading '/'s from file names


Is introducing imcompatiblity. 

So my advise for Sun tar: implement the feature but use a differenr option 
name that does not introduce incompatibility.
