this is why I built my own (see
http://www.openbios.org/~oxygene/projects/Projects/pmpkg ). I try to use
existing libraries and programs where possible, and mostly succeeded so
far - autotool's lack of support for non-gnu libintl/libiconv and qemu's
issues with solaris' gcc are the two issues that require some
duplication for the time being.
otoh, I'm still facing some issues with build dependencies the others
don't, because they can just require a package of their own, while I
want more flexibility.
