As has been explained many times now, CDE doesn't belong to us, so we
_cannot_ offer it as open source.  We don't own it.  We can't give
away what we don't have.

Instead of complaining to Open Solaris and to Sun (neither of which
can do a thing to help you), type "cde open source" into google and
visit:

My guess is that getting all of the participants in CDE to see enough
light to make that happen has roughly the same shot as getting all the
OSF participants to see that light.  Herding lawyers has to be more
difficult than herding cats.  I suppose it can't hurt to try, though.

That's certainly possible, if done from scratch.  If folks are
interested in starting such a project (call it "YAD," for "Yet Another
Desktop"), you'd have my vote.
