As has been explained many times now, CDE doesn't belong to us, so we _cannot_ offer it as open source. We don't own it. We can't give away what we don't have. Instead of complaining to Open Solaris and to Sun (neither of which can do a thing to help you), type "cde open source" into google and visit: http://www.marutan.net/cde/ http://www.petitiononline.com/opencde/petition.html My guess is that getting all of the participants in CDE to see enough light to make that happen has roughly the same shot as getting all the OSF participants to see that light. Herding lawyers has to be more difficult than herding cats. I suppose it can't hurt to try, though. > 2_If it is not a praticable way (1),why there isn't a proposal to > maintain (after CDE spin-off) an openmotif desktop? If folks are interested in starting such a project (call it "YAD," for "Yet Another Desktop"), you'd have my vote. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sun Microsystems / 1 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677 _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list [email protected]
