I don't know, I don't follow what is going on with him.

What's important for this thread is that ZFS is completely open and free code, and the ZFS team is responsive to bug fixes. Not only can ZFS far exceed any solution on Linux, it will be a while for the Linux community to scramble to provide a solution like ZFS, even if they port it.

ZFS is not your average solution, it's world class. It's this type of goodness that Linux should strive for, to be more like Solaris.
