Just thought I'd put it out there and ask if anyone had tried building flar
functionality from source code on Indiana yet.

I know I tried building the "lsof" command from source on Indiana and I think
that it doesn't work properly because there are changes related to ZFS that
need to be pushed upstream into the main lsof code. Not having lsof actually
isn't that big of an issue right now though because all that needs to happen is
that me or someone else needs to write a dtrace script that has all the exact
same functionality as lsof, and put symlink from it to "lsof" in /usr (kind of
like how "vim" replaced "vi" without any of the old school vi users even
noticing that anything had changed).

Some good news though- I did manage to successfully compile a modified version
of Thomas Habets's "arping" command from source on both 2008.05 and 2008.11 a
long time ago. I just need to hunt through all the docs to find out where that
PERL script is that can turn it into a Sys V package to share with others or
maybe start my own IPS repository.

If anyone wants to know how to do it, just post something in this thread and I
will give step by step instructions.
