Ok, FossilFortran, since you are on a limited budget, I tested some more Asus motherboards out with my old OpenSolaris 2008.05 snv_86 CD and found another motherboard where all the devices were automatically detected:
The Asus P5QL-EM motherboard, which you can easily buy for about $100: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131332 So just put in the $100 for the motherboard + cost of RAM + cost of case + cost of powersupply & drives and you're good to go. Just boot off the OpenSolaris CD and all hardware is automatically detected. No need to install any device drivers. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
