I don't know what hardware you're working on currently, but why not
install VirtualBox and then install OpenSolaris inside of that.  It
works fine and should compile things ok (might be a tad slow but it'll
work).

VirtualBox is free and you can grab it at:

http://virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

When you install OpenSolaris, make sure you give the virtual machine at
least 768mb of ram (more is better).
