Hey man, I was getting around to talking about VirtualBox, you cut me off in the middle there. The reason I'm interested in Win4Solaris is because I think it's better for the one specific case of running Windows as a guest under Solaris because it's customized for dealing with Windows and Microsoft specific issues and eccentricities, whereas Virtual Box is obviously much more versatile in the more general case of running any of a dozen different guest operating systems under almost any popular host operating system (Max OS X, OpenBSD, Ubuntu, Windows, if it's popular, VB probably runs on it.
Two examples to prove my point: I couldn't get my USB fax/printer/scanner thingee to work inside Windows XP running as a guest under VirtualBox whereas Win4Solaris appears to have custom tools specifically designed for working with the Microsoft Windows registry keys which can be very useful (i.e. you can set up Windows the way you want it and then lock the registry keys and system files so that your Windows guest operating system can't be infected by malware). Win4Solaris also has far superior Obviously if what you want is to run an OpenBSD virtual machine under OpenSolaris, then Virtual Box is the far superior solution. For me it's just a case of using different tools for different jobs. Some people prefer a hammer, some people prefer an electric drill, and Microsoft Windows users prefer chrome plated plastic scissors ;-) -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
