The installer is compiled C code in 32bit vs 64bit, maybe if it was written in
Java since Java does get loaded with the windowing layer and both 32bit and
64bit is supported in runtime with the same code base could be a answer. Also
in the past there was a CD space issue in getting the kernel to boot with
X-Window, Java and the installer ( ttinstall and GUI solaris-installer ) with
support utilities on one boot CD and having both 64bit and 43bit would double
the code to support with both 32bit and 64bit versions and adding extra 64bit
binaries could have been a issue.. I am not sure about what is going on with
the newer 2008.11 installer if is written in Java vs C, I have not looked at
that closely yet also there is not a test (console) installer version yet ether.

I am not sure why 64bit is a issue other then a nice to have!, I thought for
the main issue was the bugid's were fixed for flar flash files larger then 2g
that were used for restoring system via Jumpstart rules profile option was
resolved now?
