Hi there,

OK, there a few things about networking and VirtualBox. If you create a
standard VM, then networking will go through NAT, i.e. the VM gets an
IP-address from the VB internal server. In this case normal web surfing should
just work. Ping will not work, though. You can also create a virtual NIC in
your VM in which case the VM can connect to your network directly -- in this
case the DHCP-server in your network will issue an IP.

On my laptop running Linux I am able to surf the web in the VM going through my
wireless connection (a Broadcom 4311). This did not work in earlier versions of
VirtualBox. I tested with VirtualBox version 2.0.6.

It works in Linux, don't know about OpenSolaris. Unfortunately my laptop does
not want to run OpenSolaris (the LiveCD core-dumps on me). Anyway, I am posting
this in the hopes it helps.

Best.
