Thanks kebabber. In my scenario there is no need to seperate OS and data, and 
the OS itself needs the redundancy. Beside that there is only space for 4 
internal discs in that enclosure.

I also tested the current Solaris and that could boot from a raidz2. Therefore 
I assume that only the installer is missing that option but the kernel is 
capable of it.

Questions remain:

Is there a way to install to a raidz2 OR how can I migrate a single disc 
installation to a raidz2?
