Haha. Not at all. I just saw the word "Ethernet" in the description and decided 
I'd give it a shot. I was surprised that scanpci didn't turn up any devices 
that might match the Realtek NIC, so I was really just grasping at straws. 

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why neither scanpci nor printconf list 
the appropriate device? Do they just not know where to look for it?

I'll probably go the same route. Would you mind posting the model number of the 
card you installed? I have a spare 10/100 NIC that might do for now but I'd 
prefer a Gig-E interface just because. I'd rather not pick one up just to find
