There are (were?) some cheap KVMs that were essentially big mechanical
switches that didn't do that.  However, I've got what was a fairly
expensive, good quality switch (Protec Bytelan) that exhibits that
problem.  My question is why does it affect only Linux?  I've never seen
the problem with OS/2 or Windows.  Also, with the 2.4 kernel, it was
possible to clear the problem, but not 2.6, by switching to a text
console and back to desktop.
