After setting the resolution in sax2, when you get the screen with
'test' and 'save', don't test, just save. Then logout and log back in
and see if it has worked. The current ATI driver is notorious for having
problems with sax2 locking on test. Simply saving without a test has
worked for me in the past. It just might work for you.

Also, remember if you have a strange resolution, you can easily create a
modeline for the xorg.conf with the gtf command:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src> gtf 1680 1050 60

  # 1680x1050 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 65.22 kHz; pclk: 147.14 MHz
  Modeline "1680x1050_60.00" 147.14 1680 1784 1968 2256 1050 1051
1054 1087 -HSync +Vsync

Hope that helps
