the current situation works out quite OK for us.
Any change (no matter in which direction) means pain ;-)
However, the OpenVAS project is growing and definitely there
is need for more assistance.
The next most important challenge in terms of infrastructure
is the hosting of the OpenVAS-ready-to-go VMs and Live-CDs Geoff
is currently working on.
Our Wald could not carry it and Geoff's bandwidh probably has
some limits as well.
As for the NVT feed, the best optimization at the momement is
to make the sync script clever. I posted this in -devel recently.
We prepared the infrastructure here already so that the
sync script could retrieve a tar-ball at first run. This
would take away most of the load of the rsync service!
However, no one volunteered to modify the sync script yet.
