Hi Lvc@, we're watching and trying out OrientDB from time to time since we've found it in the depths of the internet around 2010 or maybe early 2011. Since that time, we have a feeling that OrientDB did some great steps forward.
Nevertheless, until a few weeks ago, we didn't port any of our applications from the current DBMS, namely PostgreSQL, to OrientDB because of the repeated reports about stability issues. Also, we still think that the documentation needs some more effort as it doesn't cover some topics extensive enough to get a quick start with some features. In our case, that was how to work with embedded map/set/list. Also, i wonder why nobody answers on posts like this <https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/orient-database/u1TyMYDXlz0>. If it's our fault what happened, it's okay, but please tell us. If it's a known issue, it's okay, but please tell us. If it may be a yet unkown bug, there's also no problem, but please let the user feel that you care about it, even if he doesn't pay. That's what, in our eyes, good community work is all about. Okay, that's what we think could be improved. But now let me tell you some positive things, as well :) We love your project. Your decision to publish OrientDB under the Apache 2.0 license made us decide to kick Neo4j out of the race and for your project. Generally, we plan to sooner or later migrate to OrientDB wherever it's possible. We started a few weeks ago to port one of our projects, a customer information platform for medical-related services, to OrientDB - in this case, still with a Postgresql data warehouse in the back. Two new projects with a release in the beginning of next year, we're currently developing from the ground up with OrientDB and we'll be paying customers soon. Take it as a sign that we strongly believe in the success of the hard work you put in your product and company.
