Of course, all of that is a lot of work, basically because today we don't yet have the proper tools for Flash that make such things easier. As Hank pointed out in a different mail, and i perfectly agree with him, *we* have to push the limits, *we* have to experiment with new ideas. It doesn't help much if people keep on saying 'this is a stupid idea' or 'this is not what flash was designed to do'. With Flash Player 9, nothing holds us back to do things we would never have dreamt about in Flash 8 days.
And, making a Flash frontend accessible is a lot of work. Always. No matter what methods you use to accomplish that. I'm working on DENG 2, but only whenever i find some free time to do so, so it might take some significant amount of time yet to release something halfway useful (i'm thinking in years rather than months here) unless i get some help. I think it's important to push Flash more towards standards in general. This would open Flash to a very very wide audience. For example, take XForms. A standard by the W3C that didn't *really* take off yet, because there are no mainstream implementations out there. The W3C members who are in the forms business (a billion dollar industry) are dying to see a cross browser/platform and zero install XForms renderer. DENG 1 did just that, but it was a) not feature complete and b) too slow (Flash Player 6). Flash Player 9 would be the solution here. And that's just one example of many.
