As far as I know, the "ht" entry in the flags listing stands for hyper-threading support; however, it appears other CPUs also set this flag (my core 2 dual does, for example). The "siblings" and "cpu cores" fields are important then. Here it says 4 cores and 8 siblings, that is 2 virtual cores on each core. A core 2 dual has 2 cpu cores and 2 siblings. The "core id" field says which physical core it is.

/proc/cpuinfo is has 8 entries, but each entry does say that the CPU
has only four cores..  I can't spot anything specifically that says
that hyper threading is in action.  Perhaps there is something cryptic

My interest in knowing about hyperthreading is that I want to control
where each of the threads is assigned so that the local cache and cpu
utilization are well balanced.  Right now the affinity code just
blinding assigns the threads to cores on a incremental basis, but I
expect this strategy to not make the most of this type of machine.
