This is something Bob and I have talked about doing, but so far most OSG funding is for new rendering features, not infrastructure. It would be nice if donations would solve this issue, but so far that is something that doesn't appear to be a high-priority concern, so I suspect that if no one is willing to fund a contract for such improvements, then probably no one is willing to donate for the task either. I don't mean to be negative, I'm just sharing my experience with the customers I have worked with.
