We discussed something similar before, but do you think it could be wise to also put "secondary" maintainers? My idea is to write something roughly like: "Visual C++ 2005 SP1 (vc80sp1) 32-bit: Primary maintainer(s): Jean-Sébastien Guay Secondary maintainer(s) (if primary is/are too busy/absent/etc): me"
Well, I consider that if I put my name as packager for a given platform/toolset, I'll do it. Though I don't consider it a "maintainer" position, rather "just for this release, for the next one we'll see" :-)
But if you want to put yourself as secondary go ahead, or even if you want to take it over (if you think you have time)... I've mentioned before that I'd be willing to do it if no one else volunteered... :-)
